Policy on PKP Preservation Network (PN) for Journal of Critical Realism in Socio-Economic (JOCRISE)
1. Policy Statement
The Journal of Critical Realism in Socio-Economic (JOCRISE) is committed to the long-term preservation of its scholarly content to ensure perpetual access for its readers and stakeholders. As part of this commitment, JOCRISE utilizes the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Preservation Network (PN) as a key strategy for the digital preservation of its journal content.
2. Objectives of Digital Preservation
The primary goals of the PKP Preservation Network policy for JOCRISE are:
Content Longevity: To preserve the digital content of JOCRISE in perpetuity.
Continuity of Access: To ensure uninterrupted access to the journal’s content, even in the event of system failures or unforeseen circumstances affecting the primary hosting platform.
Adherence to Standards: To comply with international best practices and standards for digital preservation.
3. Scope of Content Preserved
The PKP Preservation Network (PN) will preserve:
All articles published in JOCRISE, including metadata and full-text content in PDF format.
Supplementary materials associated with articles, such as datasets, graphics, and multimedia files when applicable.
Published issues and volumes of JOCRISE.
4. Preservation Mechanism
Integration with PKP PN: JOCRISE is integrated with the PKP Preservation Network via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
Automated Workflow: The OJS platform ensures that published content is automatically deposited into the PKP PN for secure archiving.
LOCKSS Technology: The PKP PN employs the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program to create a distributed preservation network. This ensures that multiple copies of the content are stored across geographically dispersed locations to safeguard against data loss.
LOCAL ARCHIVE
JOCRSE journal maintains a local state-of-the-art facility to store a complete, accurate digital version of paper published. The current format standards are XML and .pdf; with most files being retained in both formats. Website archiving All of JOCRSE electronic content (website, manuscripts, etc.) is stored on three different sources. Content on one server is online and accessible to the readers. The copy of the same content is kept as a backup on two other sources. In case of failure of one server, any one of the other sources can be made online and website expected to be accessible within 24-36 hours.
SELF-ARCHIVING
JOCRSE journals support self-archiving. JOCRSE journal permit and encourages authors to make their research visible and accessible to the peers by uploading the final published version of their articles in personal or institutional repositories immediately after publication, while providing bibliographic details that credit, if applicable, its publication in the journal.
